taken indicates done, the end of a process
taking indicates something in the process of being done; doesn't fit here

They WILL BE TAKING her picture tomorrow.

He was taking the toys to his mother or he taken the toys to his mother

He was taking the toys to his mother. Correct English.

He taken the toys to his mother. Incorrect. This is not a valid English tense.
