You wrote nearly 230 words, while the minimum is 150.

You will not lose points for writing more; however, longer essays generally do not get high scores. There are many reasons.

First, the longer the essay, the more chances you have to make errors, and you will lose points for these errors.

Second, your writing may be repetitious and wordy and contain phrases that have little meaningful content. In Task 1, you are likely writing about everything, rather than following the instructions and picking out only the significant points. This will cost you points.

Third, you will take a lot of the limited time writing, and not have time left over to proofread your essay. You will miss the silly mistakes, and that lowers your score.

Fourth, you will not have enough time to devote to Task 2, and get a lower score there. Task 2 counts twice as much for your overall score.

It is strongly advised that Task 1 essays be in the range of 170-190 words, certainly not over 200.

The clustered bar chart plots the minutes per day that British women and men spend on routine household tasks. Six categories are shown: meal preparation, housecleaning, gardening (including pet care), childcare, odd jobs, and laundry.

Overall, women did most of this kind of work, 233 compared to 141 minutes each day for men. Women worked longer than men on four of the six categories, the exceptions were odd jobs and gardening. The most time-consuming activities were meal preparation for women and gardening for men.

In detail, women spent more than half of their time, 132 minutes, or over two hours on two activities: preparing meals and house cleaning. Men also did some meal preparation, but spent only half as much time as women, 30 minutes compares to 74 minutes. However, the chore that took the most time for them was gardening, about 50 minutes per day. And they also spent about three times as much time as women did in odd jobs, 26 minutes compared to 10 minutes. Men hardly spent any time doing the laundry; this was definitely women's work.
