I've been peeved about the television work at the French Grand Slam. It isn't at all uncommon that when a player serves his first serve, the director chooses to show it from an angle that makes it impossible for the viewer to see where the ball lands.Emotion: headbang That is an elementary blunder and simply unforgivable! I do realise that the director chooses these stupid camera angles for "artistic" reasons. He is doing the viewers a disservice, though. The BBC has never made such elementary mistakes at Wimbledon.

Fortunately the organisers of the French Open have realised that admitting dozens of 10-year-olds for free to watch the matches wasn't a good idea. Even some of the adult spectators are ignorant as regards correct behaviour in the stands, but listening to the noisy kids in previous years was a pain in the neck. As far as spectator behaviour is concerned, Wimbledon beats Roland Garros six-love.

Yes I think the same thing and I really don't like the crowd at the French Open cos I find them really rude. Even when a player plays again a french guy they just keep whistleting and making noises all the time.

The official French Open website, which is available in English, lists all the TV channels that air the tournament. In Europe and the Far East, Eurosport and Eurosport 2 broadcast all the Grand Slam tournaments except Wimbledon. For that you'll need Canal+ Sport. The US Open will start in about 90 minutes, by the way!Emotion: wink

Cool BreezeEven some of the adult spectators are ignorant as regards correct behaviour in the stands
This is true about the US Open as well. Yesterday the players were ready to continue playing but many spectators just went on walking and talking. The umpire had to ask them twice: "Please sit down, the players are ready." This elicited a sarcastic comment from one of the two Eurosport 2 British commentators: "The crowd are not!"Emotion: smile

Hello there!

I think the BBC are very careful with their angles. With women's tennis they usually show close up above waist and then go straight to a long shot of the whole court. They are very careful not to show too much leg! I noticed when I watched tennis in France that the coverage was not so Victorian in their puritanism. The BBC panders to religious groups and women's groups and often acts in anticipation of complaints from either of these groups. Even though they probably wouldn't complain anyway. This is why you only get certain shots from the BBC. Very careful not to show anything that might cause offence!
