You don't need a longer sentence. You can just say 'Thanks' or 'Congratulations'. If you want to add other sentences, that's fine.

Thanks, that was very kind of you.

Thanks, I appreciate that.

Thanks, it was nice of you to invite me to dinner.

Or maybe you mean to use these words as verbs?

I want / I'd like to thank you for... to congratulate you for... Let me congratulate you for...
