Hi,

There's a move in the US to make English the official language by law. I believe that a fundamentalist US politician remarked, in regard to this, that if English was good enough for Jesus, it was good enough for him.Emotion: wink

Our Noah must have scratched his head when he came to define "musket".

Clive, is it too much to hope for that you made that up to tease the Americans? That's just horrifying.

Although, I was at a wedding once, and the reading was from this bit when it talks about how Adam got to name all the animals, and how they are still known by that name today. Perhaps mutting in a stage whisper "Just what was he thinking when he got to "duck-billed playtpus, I wonder!" was not the behavior expected in church.
There's a pleasing symmetry with the idea that the Qu'ran in English isn't the word of God.

On the other hand, if someone accepts that the Bible in English is:

...God's written word...

isn't it then valid for that person to conclude that "English was good enough for Jesus"? — the past tense "was" referring to the time of the translation, of course...
