Hi

Would you say that these work naturally? Any suggestions please?

The fairy said to the terrified fish, “I’ll bite your tail five times. Each bite will be stronger than the one before."

The fairy said to the terrified fish, “I’ll hit your tail five times with my stick. Each stroke will be stronger than the one before.”

Thanks,

Tom

PS: Can I say "each hitting" instead of "each stroke"?

Both stanzas work well. As to your “PS” question, “each stroke” works much better. Although an “-ing” verb can be used as a noun (gerund), it’s highly preferable to use a base noun like “stroke” in the context of describing individual events (each stroke) as opposed to an activity as a whole. (Ex: “Hitting is not nice.”)

I hope this is helpful.
