Is the following story true? I couldn't find it on Google.

There is a story that the first woman who baked a pie with filling completely surrounded by pie-crust was hanged as a witch because the elders though it must take witchcraft to put the filling inside the crust.

Hi Feebs,

Someone just told me. I think I have to ask him about its authenticity.

Yup, I agree. Being creative seemed scary back then. People here also told me that blacksmiths were also accused as wizards.

The story sounds very unlikely to me. A lot of stories about Medieval superstitions were made up much later.

What about those blacksmiths they told me? Do you think it's also a lie?

Probably. It might be that a blacksmith at some point was accused of witchcraft and someone later interpreted the matter as being that he was accused of witchcraft because he was a blacksmith.

It's sad how easily people are killed due to misunderstandings. Even in mathematics history, Hippasus was killed because the Pythagoreans couldn't accept the idea of an irrational number.
