I am going to go cycling
I am cycling.

These are poor examples for introducing these two forms as ways of expressing the future. They could give the impression that am going to go indicated the futurity of cycling rather than just am going to.. It would be less problematic to use examples without go such as :

I am going to play tennis tomorrow.
I am playing tennis tomorrow,
