A racist remark? Just what was needed.

Since when is a fact racist? I think you'd better look up the word and stop acting as if you were Young Joey when you use the term.
Don't confuse nationality and nationalism with racism, a disease that ... to chat about it. Our racism is British in origin,

Er, no. Racism is personal in origin.

If you want to get really personal, racism is part and parcel of human nature. It's epidemic. The only real differences are how it's used, whether it's institutionalized in a country's laws (as in the USA) or just part of the majority culture's behaviour towards the minority cultures in the country.
of course, the black Africans having been brought over as ... the lands of their white English owners in British ships.

Yes, that also explains the rampant and brutal racism toward Chinese settlers, Italian immigrants, and just about every other influx to the States.

Well, as I understand it, a wog's a wog's a wog, n'est-ce pas?
It's all down to the British, Dutch, German, French etc. slave trade. Oops, sorry; you meant just the British, even if (AIRI) more Dutch than British slavers dealt with the States. Right. Perfectly in logic.

You really ought to learn how to read better, Mark. It took the Brits in the American colonies more than 160 years to create a country called the USA. Until 1776, they were Brits. Slavery was a 17th- century introduction to the colonies, started by the British who owned the colonies and the slaves and lived there. Who cares what ships those early Brits chose to import their slaves on?
But we don't need facts for a chat about things of which you seem ignorant.

I was just thinking something very similar, myself.

That's because you don't think for yourself.
I've made this point many times right here in AUE, ... and write your posts is a product of American "culture",

No it isn't. It's a product of a US company, and half of its code was probably written in India.

ARPANet, the Internet. Before India became an IT powerhouse.
Or do you mean the medium of networked computers? If you do, I think you'll find it has nothing whatsoever to do with any particular nation's "culture".

The popularity of this medium. "Popular culture" to the Nth degree, which is what America can claim as its one and only culture: junk food and junk movies and junk TV. Which the rest of the world swills as if it were fine champagne.
as is much of what you watch on TV and ... until they think they can get what they need there.

Sure, but having crap like "you can be anything you want to be!" drummed into you day in, day out, doesn't teach you how to play nice with the other kids.

Lies never do work well. But at least that lie doesn't support a rigid class or caste system.
That shows just how little you know about the USA. ... Iowa, and the sound stages of ABC, CBS, and NBC.

I actually prefer what the Northern and coastal snobs call "hick" or "redneck" country. Nicer people.

You would. They are genuinely nice people in Iowa, but in the South, they're just hypocrites. When's the last time you lived in any of those places and had anything to do with the people you say you prefer? Oh, in a previous life as an overseer in South Carolina? I thought so.
Does that mean "being in England (or any other place one might care to insert here)" means "being nowhere"?

No, it means you're not the country.

But if I weren't "in" the country, then I might be the country?
For the sausages and the ham, you fool!

Well, if it wasn't for the beer, then you at least have /some/ taste.

Sorry, but what is called "beer" of any kind these days is for the tasteless.

Your opinion of why I might think something could never be described as a fact.

Now, there's a good one.
Sheesh.

I think I've had enough of this.

All right, I'll go for it. WTF have codpieces ... clothing got to do with the topic in hand?

I have no doubt you have the topic in hand.

You're a fat bloke, aren't you? How many pizza boxes and empty beer bottles litter the floor of your bedsit?
I think I've had enough of this.

That's very good, Mark, because it seems as if everyone's had enough of you for this year, and it's been only a few days since you've returned. We like you more when you're far, far away.
