Dear Teachers,

1. I had a bunch of friends over and we partied until the wee hours.

- What does "the wee hours" mean here?

2. I've got to find a restroom and quick! I think I've got the royal runs.

- "I think I've got the royal runs" means "I think nature is calling", right?

3. John rarely snores, but last night he really started sawing some logs.

- What does "start sawing some logs" mean?

Thanks very much to Teachers,

Stevenukd.

1. I had a bunch of friends over and we partied until the wee hours.

- What does "the wee hours" mean here? -- Very late. Wee= small, and the small numbers are 1, 2, 3 (o'clock)

2. I've got to find a restroom and quick! I think I've got the royal runs.

- "I think I've got the royal runs" means "I think nature is calling", right? -- More serious than that; a bad case of diarrhea.

3. John rarely snores, but last night he really started sawing some logs.

- What does "start sawing some logs" mean? -- the noise of snoring resembles the sound of a saw; cartoons often show a sleeping person with a log being sawn in the thought-balloon over his head.
