Hi,

My English teacher corrected the following sentence from:

"I went to England."

to

"I went for England"

Can anyone please explain to me why the first sentence is considered wrong?

Thank you.

Either your teacher is wrong or you misunderstood. I went to England is correct for a trip to that country, and I went for England is wrong.

It seems my teacher made a mistake.

Thank you anyway!
