What does "that is too easily marketable" mean?

Quote:

Cultural marginality [is] no longer a problem of invisibility but one of excess visibility in terms of a reading of cultural difference that is too easily marketable.

(Jean Fisher (quoted in Mercer 1994, 34)

That sentence actually made my head spin. These folks don't seem to mind it if nobody can tell what they're trying to say. I took another run at it, but I couldn't get past "cultural marginality". With any luck, she defines it somewhere.
