Some people think that strict punishments for driving offences are the key to reducing traffic accidents. Others, however, believe that other measures would be more effective in improving road safety. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

It is believed that people who drive wrongly should be strictly punished in order to lessen the frequency of traffic accidents, whereas some people insist on several alternatives being taken as a good solution to this problem. Personally, I approve of both views because they are equally reasonable.

It is indeed undeniable that the main reason for traffic accidents comes from humans. Some of them are too neglectful of their own lives and others’ that they keep driving casually and carelessly, such as speeding or not wearing helmets while driving motorbikes. For that reason, should the seriousness of the punishments for these illegal actions be increased. I believe that no one will dare to get into all kinds of driving offences at all, for fear that they will be heavily fined or more seriously, sentenced to be dead.

Otherwise, the effective way shown above notwithstanding, I assume that there are way more possible steps to enable anyone to drive in a safe road system. First of all, roads in some parts of the world are too uneven or too muddy which makes it difficult for people to pass through and are likely to cause accidents. Thus, roads need to be constructed properly with no hard rocks or barriers, so that people can drive enjoyably. Second of all, it seems to me that sometimes, traffic signs are inadequate, too old or placed in a blurry location that drivers barely see what they guide them which probably will result in crashes. Accordingly, governments should also spend more money on producing more signs with plain pictures to solve this problem.

In conclusion, I am in favor of the idea that strict punishments should be given for whoever drives illegally. However, other measures above are also worthwhile to be noticed and applied to improve the safety level of roads and reduce accidents.

Thank you!!!!
