Hello,

Here is an article:
As international oil prices rise, along with the prices of rice, sugar, flour, corn and beans, consumer prices
all over the world have received a direct hit.

In above article, is "along with" proper from the context?

Thank you in advance.
Comments
There is nothing wrong with it in this context. I prefer not to use 'along with' in my own writing. "As well as" or simply "with" usually are enough.

Jan and I walked down the street. Jim came with us.
Jan and I walked down the steet along with Jim.
Can anyone help me with punctuation placements or reformatting for the following sentence:

Hi,
Can anyone help me with punctuation placements or reformatting for the following sentence:

This essay discusses difficult periods in my life, along with the strength and skills that I developed to overcome these events, while achieving educational, personal, and professional goals.

Delete the comma after 'events'.

You begin by speaking of 'periods' and end by referring to these as 'events'.

Perhaps it might sound more positive to mention 'the good' before 'the bad',
eg This essay discusses the strengths and skills that I developed to overcome difficult periods in my life, and which have enabled me to achieve educational, personal, and professional goals.

Best wishes, Clive
Thanks Clive for your input. I do have one last sentence which I am not sure whether to use distinguish or distinquishes: Any advice for the following:

These are the strong qualities that I posses, which distinguish me from my peers.
