What is the correct usage of the word myself- I hear educated people using it ( I think incorrectly) everyday- teachers and even newscasters!. I always thought it was a reflexive verb to complement the I. Is it correct to say, All the members and myself... What is the rule? eslmom1
That's incorrect, actually. It's one of those things people do because they think it sounds fancy and educated when in fact it's wrong. "Myself" is indeed reflexive (but it's a pronoun, not a verb) and should only be used as such.
Hence: "I was talking about the professors and myself."
But: "He was talking about the professors and me."
Hence: "I was talking about the professors and myself."
But: "He was talking about the professors and me."
