Hi everyone,

I wonder if the use of "to" is optional in the following sentence. This sentence was represented in a reading book without "to".

"Anyone who is au courant with the status of liberated women need not be/need not to be surprised by their entry into the boxing ring."

Thank you in advance,

"To" would be wrong there as you have the modal version of "need".

needn't be = doesn't need to be
Thank you very much Ivanhr.
