Hi

Is the use of sporadic showers and/or intermittent showers natural English here? Any suggestions please?

(Tara = name of some area)

There had been sporadic showers all night and I was not sure how muddy Tara would be.

There had been intermittent showers all night and I was not sure how muddy Tara would be.

Thanks,

Tom

Hi Tom, yes, both are fine.

The only change I would make is to put a comma after night because you are beginning a new sentence after the conjunction.

You could recast your sentence as follows:

Because there had been sporadic/intermittent showers all night, I was unsure of how muddy Tara would be.

This version shows more cause and effect.
