Is IGNORANT a rude word? I mean to say I don't see how it is rude(maybe, in some contexts). Can I not say I am ignorant of the news that Brazil's president is dead? Here, I don't know, but am answering more formally.
Can I not say politely that I am afraid I am ignorant of the number of people who died of Covid epidemic?
Can I not use the word IGNORANT formally?
ignorant has these two meanings.
1. lacking knowledge
2 uncouth, rude
I don't hear #2 as much as I used to.

Sir, would it be impolite of me to say, "I am afraid I am ignorant of English grammar; would you kindly recommend me some grammar books?"
Please expound!

No, that is very polite.

I am deeply regretful for having to double post, sir. I hope you would forgive me for that. The reason I double posted was that I had lost my account and password, so I couldn't find my question answered. Thereafter, I got my password changed. Thankfully, I have got my question( it was utterly urgent to me) answered. Thanks for answering.
Ah. OK.
