I have made up the sentences below.

(1) I quickly walked out of the road when I saw a car coming toward me.

(2) I quickly walked off the road when I saw a car coming toward me.

Which one is correct -" walked out of the road" or "walked off the road" - meaning "left the road"? Thank you very much.

ansonguyWhich one is correct

walked off the road would be my choice. It's used about 10 times more often than walked out of the road, and it sounds a lot better, at least to my ear.
