Hello, I'm having a problem with a certain sentence while translating it to my native language (Turkish)... You will probably want to see the full sentence, so here it is:

"In order to design cost-effective product families and product platforms, a production cost estimation framework was presented in order that relevant costs are collected, estimated and analysed."

My best guess is something like this:

to design this thing, you need/use this framework, and this framework made of (or contains) what has been said above. (cost collection etc.)

Am I right with this meaning? If not, can you put it in the way i put above, simplifying. (I would also love to learn full conditions and use of this form)

Thanks in advance.

In order to design cost-effective product families and product platforms, a production cost estimation framework was presented in order that relevant costs are collected, estimated and analysed.

It's a rather poorly written sentence. It means, more or less:

To ensure that these things are designed cost-effectively (i.e. so that profit can be made from selling them), a production cost estimation framework (an outline, or summary, of the sort of production costs that need to be considered) was presented (i.e. either a report was written and circulated, or someone made a stand-up presentation). The purpose of that presentation was to make sure that information about the expected costs was/is collected, estimated and analysed.

So, what part of it poorly written you think? I feel like instead of "in order that" something better can be inserted there. Would be simply "where" actually. Wrong ?
The sentence is essentially saying "In order to achieve A, we did B in order to achieve C", which, to me, is an awkward construction. Replacing "in order that" with "where" (or "in which") is a good suggestion, and is one way to relieve some of the awkwardness. Another possibility is to turn the sentence into "We did B in order to achieve C and hence A." Something like:

A production cost estimation framework was presented in order to collect, estimate and analyse relevant costs, and so ensure that the design of the product families and product platforms is cost-effective.
