I think chinese people are like any other human race...there is bad and good among them.
I like chinese people as they value their old heritage and customs...

Hmmm... Chinese people huh?
Well I'm learning Chinese right now, and I have been to Taiwan. I must say, In Taiwan, the people there are incredibly friendly. But speaking about Chinese people, I feel as if the Chinese immigrants that come to the United States are incredibly rude. Now, the most obvious reason as to why this, is probably because they are some of the less educated chinese populations. It is almost sad that the chinese immigrants are poor representatives of Chinese people.
For example, the other day at a chinese restaruant, the chinese host tryed to discouarge me from speaking chinese to her. She would just ignore any chinese I said and speak to me in english, and then speak chinese to the other chinese workers. (Chinese owners only hire chinese people, by the way. I tried applying to a chinese restaurant, and they only laughed at me, didn't even give me an application forum) Also, she would talk about me, and loudly about how I had a crappy accent and that I probably only knew a little bit, which was not true becuase... I understood what she was saying about me the whole time.
So I can't say Chinese people are all friendly. In all honesty, I haven't met a friendly chinese person yet except for my chinese teachers. It's kinda sad, I still say its from the education, and also the fact that American are pretty hostile to foreigners. Yet, I also feel there is a closed cultural feel in the Chinese society, that they see you only as a foreigner. You can't be a friend, a lover, a something*! Just an "American", no matter how hard you try for their acceptance. It's pretty sad, but that's the culture I suppose. *sigh

Sorry to hear about your bad experiences, Anon. I haven't noticed anything similar over here in the UK, I must admit.
If I had learnt as much Chinese as you seem to have done, I wouldn't myself give it up. If nothing else, it will astonish people.

All the peace loving to people of world should know what really is happening in china under People's Republic Goverment of China....Each day many peace loving people of china are being killed or detained for the reason of their love for peace and democracy or should i rather say for better china for billion of chinese people....... I must acknowledge that there are plenty of problems in China along with its developing miracle. but the problems are far from the terrible way you Fa Lun Gong are used to describing. I should say that China is losing its unique custums and tradition, the moral standard is degrading and corruption is becaming so rampant that almost every official must have accepted bribes or diverted public funds if he could. however, it could not be true that a large number of people are being killed or detained just because thay are democrats, and I even wouldn't believe that Fa Lun Gong fanaticists are being killed only for their faith, though I tend to take this faith for evil more and more.
you say Communist Party are liers, which to some extent I agree with. they did lie in many issues in terms of historic affairs or personal portraying of the leaders. but Fa Lun Gong people are much worse liers by publicising all over the world that how bad,evil and cruel C P is, what miserable lives people are living, and how China lacks human rights, cause you are doing this based on terrible and stupid lies that any true Chinese would see through after first sight. so i'm safe to say that Fa Lun Gong is despised by every single Chinese in China not because of propaganda of C P, but because of your own terrible behaviors.

There are less educated and low quality people in every country of the world. so don't feel frustrated by some bad Chinese cause anyway they are just a drop in the sea. what u said is true that the earlier immigrants in USA were relativly less educated, so if you'd like to make friends with Chinese, why not get in touch with oversees students or simply go to China and communicate with the natives? Chinese people are especially friendly to foreign people, respect them more than other Chinese, to some extend i'm a little bit ashamed of it. to those who treat foreigners much better than their countrymen, i could only say: " You are perfectly fit for slaves.”
