Hi,
Welcome to EF!
Just looking at that stand-alone sentence, between assigned and designated, I prefer the latter, which has to do with the allocation of the areas for the overnight parking. It does not address who would / could park in these places. The former is often associated with somebody. It means to me: unless you are assigned to park in the overnight parking area, you cannot do so. In other words, if the overnight parking areas are reserved for students only, assigned would be my choice.

I would say designated.

There could be several places for overnight parking around the campus, but it would have to be designated where those would be.
