Breakfast is essential for enhancing physical, mental and attention abilities. And it is not challenge to point out a few differences between the two cultures in Vietnamese and European breakfast dishes. To begin with, for a country with a long-standing wet rice culture like Vietnam, rice products still hold an important position in the breakfast food village. Typically, sticky rice, a dish made from glutinous rice, is sometimes combined with colorants and flavors to make the dish more appealing. Besides, the various forms of vermicelli, pho, and the unique flavor of traditional Vietnamese soup served everywhere might not be ignored. They are customarily enjoyed while still hot with a variety of toppings included, adding little raw vegetables to bring the sensation of genuineness and idyllic Vietnamese. In contract, from another angle, because it is considered a significant meal, European breakfasts are quite hearty and full of items such as sandwiches, smoked salmon, buttered beef fillet or grilled pork ribs. Europeans frequently supplemented with little juice, milk and tea in their breakfast. Following, there is the dissimilarity in eating manner. When it comes to dining, Vietnamese habitually prefer to use chopsticks mainly, whereas Europeans use knives/spoons/forks. A unique feature is that Vietnamese regularly eat the same tray, that is, food is stored in a large bowl/pot, individuals sitting and eating will use chopsticks/spoons to get food into their cups, while Europeans eat in a bowl their own part. In conclusion, the differences in dishes and ways of eating has created 2 separate cultures of breakfast dishes between Vietnam and Europe, bringing their own traditions and characteristics.
