Hi all! My first post here. Great forums!

You all know (i suppose) the Sade's song Smooth operator. What exactly does this expression means?

Thanks a lot!

Hello Anon

It's a long time since I've heard the song; but I think the 'smooth operator' in question is an 'accomplished seducer'.

(The 'operation' is seduction; the technique is 'smooth'.)

Basically 'smooth operator' means 'a person who knows how to swim with the tide or is efficient',
but in this case probably it means
'a man of with a polished and winning personality who has amatory and sexual sucess with women'.
Hope this would help.

Please don't add posts that contain nothing but a quotation of the original question. It adds nothing to the discussion to ask the same thing again, especially when the answer has already been given.
