Hi,

'...but we sense that his thoughts might be wandering towards Ashley.'

What does 'his thoughts might be wandering towards someone' mean in the context?

Thank you very much.

You know how your mind can move from point to point when you are just sitting and thinking. There appears no particular reason, logic or direction to your thoughts. They are wandering.

In this context, the person's thoughts are beginning to concentrate on Ashley, having been wandering around before.

On a humorous note: if it is not a text from a fictional novel, I would definitely suggest that you might find a more poignant answer from a paranormal gifted person. It is impossible for the average person to channel into someone else's thoughts and, nonetheless, follow their direction.Emotion: thinking Emotion: smile

On a serious note: you already received a good answer. The problem with the text is that the collective "we" either sense or not the "wandering thoughts" of the subject. The use of might leaves room for DOUBT.
