Hi. What is the right tense in the foloowing context?

'I have sent you lots of emails and letters. Haven't I?

I ----------(write)you another long letter today, but it isn't finished yet.'

I personally think we should use past continuous to talk about unfinished action in the past. But the use of present perfect continuous also sound natural.

I would be grateful if you could explain me which tense should be used in that context.

I agree with you about using Present Perfect Continuous. The focus of the sentence is clearly on the present situation (at the time of speaking).

Present perfect continuous tense should be used.
