These days, there are a variety of different perspectives on the question of whether or not citizens should use more public transportation instead of private vehicles. While some people hold the conservative view that urban transportation service does not perform as well as private one because of its convenience and dependence, I personally believe that this trend is able to work effectively as low emissions and contribution to protect the environment.
With regard to merits, firstly, using public transport such as bus, train, or railway, which have less exhaust fumes can do wonders for the environment. The more people use public transport, the fewer private cars on the road. As a result, the rate of air pollution will decrease and improve the air quality. In addition, traveling by vehicles which are published acts as a money-saver since its cheap commute costs when individuals using buses or trains do not have to bear expenses for car maintenance, or purchasing fossils. For instance, recently, gasoline prices have increased sharply to about 30 thousand VND per liter, so that it is advisable for people to commute by either buses or trains with a price three times cheaper, only about 9 thousand VND.
Nonetheless, the use of public transport is not completely beneficial because it still has some limitations. One point which I think to be absolutely pivotal is the lack of privacy. In reality, the subway and bus are often full of passengers, thus you may have to sit next to many strangers for almost thirty minutes or more. Aside from that, taking public transportation makes people dependent. This is particularly so given the fact that there will only be certain bus routes, so sometimes you will not get your destination. Hence, you have to depend on the bus route you take to choose the location.
In conclusion, I once again restate any view that the upsides of public transport outweighs its downsides. Not only does it help to protect the environment, but it also has value in saving money.
