Hi,

Could you make some examples with these words and explain when to use them please?

however- I was sick. However, I went to class. Introduces something contrary to what was expected.

anyway - I was sick. Anyway, I went to class. Indicates the second fact was not expected, but also suggests that it is of no great importance.

by the way - I was sick. By the way, I went to class. Indicates that the second fact has no importance, and that you are just casually mentioning it as an afterthought.

whatever - I was sick. Whatever, I went to class.'Whatever' in this structure is informal English, as often spoken by teenagers. It lacks precision and is not something I would recommend you to use.

I hope this answers your question. If not, please write again.

Best wishes, Clive
