Hi,

I'm a bit confused. Yesterday I wanted to write an e-mail in English and stumpled upon this phrases. Is there a difference between "all my friends" and "all of my friends"?

An example:

All my friends said I look great.

or

All of my friends said I look great.

What's right?

When do you use "all my friends/classmates/..." and when "all of my friends/classmates/..."?

Sorry for any mistakes with the language Emotion: smile

Hello, Wombats - and welcome to English Forums.

Is there a difference between "all my friends" and "all of my friends"?-- No, not at all. Some grammarians think that 'of' is necessary in formal situations, that is all.
