Hi everybody,

I was wathcing this video on youtube (

) when i red this:

"Nice English accent!

However, don't give up the day job!

but what "don't give up the day job!" meas?
People hoping to work in the entertainment industry as musicians, actors, etc., often have a less glamorous job that allows them to pay the bills while they wait for their "big break." This job (retail sales clerk, call center worker, etc.) is what they do during the day, while performing/auditioning in the evenings.

Thus, "don't quit your day job" is a mildly insulting phrase - it means they shouldn't give up their sure source of income, because they are not likely to be vaulted into stardom any time soon.
ok...thank you!!!
