Hello.

I am wondering about the following tenses:

every time you do nothing, you waste 3 minutes of your life

—> I think this could work if it was seen as a general rule.

Every time you do nothing you are wasting you time.

—> focuses on the background action.

Any time you try to explain something to my friend I am just wasting my time, she never listens.

I think this is correct.

The sentence, "Every time you do nothing, you waste 3 minutes of your life.", is okay (but why exactly, and only, 3 minutes?).

The sentence, "Every time you do nothing, you're wasting time.", would be okay.

The sentence, "Every time I try to explain something to my friend, I'm just wasting my time. She never listens." would be okay.
