a) This is what I have least expected in time of need.

b) It/He/She was a godsend to me in my distress.

By that expression, We want to depict the situation . such as a person is in a big, serious problem. but, fortunately , coincidentally , he/she can comes across the person who can save him / her from his/her chaotic situation by solving the problem. ( By meeting that person, he /she feels relieved so much.)

Which sentence sounds more natural to you? Or which sentence makes sense to you more clearly?

Is there any expression to depict that situation other than the sentences above?

Thank you in advance.
