Is it wrong or awkward to ask the question, "Who do you respect the most," instead of "Who is your role model," "Who is your hero," or "Who do you admire"?
It's not wrong. It's just a different question.

Who do you respect the most? tends to illicit an answer that names someone you respect in your own family or in your personal life.
Who do you admire? is similar, but opens up the choices to other people, maybe even historical figures.
Who is your role model? asks who you want to imitate, most likely a living person.
Who is your hero? may be taken either seriously or humorously. You might even get a comic book figure as your answer!

They are all similar, but with little differences.
