I have been refuged in American embassy since last month.

I was refuged in American embassy for few months before I could leave the country.

My home is my refuge / sanctuary / shelter, nothing better than here in the world. (Which word is correct here?)

I have been (sheltered as) a refugee in an American embassy since the first of last month.

I have taken refuge in an American embassy since the first of last month.
