I have a question regarding the correct use of wrong/wrongly and spelled/spelt.

I spelt/spelled grammar wrong/wrongly.

Can anybody help give me the correct use of this and an explanation as to why that is the case.

Some adverbs have two forms: a '-ly' form and one that looks like an adjective.
'Wrong' is a such one.
I spelt grammar wrong.
The word 'grammar' was wrongly spelt/spelled.

Inchoate
My understanding is that spelt is more likely the British preference, spelled, the American.

I was wrong. I got it all wrong. I did it the wrong way. I did it wrong. I spelled it wrong. It was wrong to do that. I answered the question wrong.

wrongly (=mistakenly, incorrectly) is typically placed before a verb of judgment.

I was wrongly accused. We wrongly assumed that he had already arrived. I'm afraid they'll wrongly conclude that the patient is dead. This medication was wrongly thought to be a cure for pneumonia.

I like this one:

The employee was wrongly judged wrong.

Yes i can, wrong is an adjective whereas wrongly is an adverb eg,

That answer ( noun ) is wrong
He chose ( verb ) wrongly

OK ?

In your example you state "I spelled it wrong" as an example of Wrong, however wrong is then acting as an "adjective" of the verb "spelled" which we call an adverb. Thus, an adverb would be used there and "I spelled it wrong" would turn into "I spelled in wrongly"

Anon,
Some of us do occasionally make careless mental, typos and editing errors. I know I have, more than few, after I made my posting. I say this because there are too many "Anon's" who often offered critiques when they can't even observe the fundamental rules of capitalization and punctuations. CJ had clearly spelled out all the possible utterances with "wrong" and "wrongly".
I am just curious. With your words stated in the above, then, are the sentences below also wrong in your opinion?

The machine has gone wrong – I can't get it to stop!

Where did I go wrong in that sum?

"Spelled grammar wrongly" is correct.

Wrongly is an adverb, while wrong is an adjective.
Spelled is the past form of to spell, whereas spelt is a type of wheat.
However, spelled and spelt are usually used interchangeably.
