He is the former Corporate Liaison Manager for Salene Mining Group, for which he managed aspects of human resource development and government liaison. After returning to South Africa from a decade with the then outlawed ANC in Southern Africa and England . Themba Mavimbela -Shongwe was deployed in the organisation’s Norther n Transvaal (now Limpopo Province ) executive structure, and contributed to development of Reconstruction and Development Programme as representative of the province. He oversaw the 1994 elections in the region as P rovincial El ectoral O fficer before moving into the Cape Town , and later Gauteng , whereby he was involved into transformation of the Department of Land Affairs, initiating and overseeing various rural equity projects. In 1996 he left to establish the Development Planning and Research consultancy, which undertook work in the planning, infrastructure projects, and natural resource management, with the emphasis on land reform, water supply, and sanitation, mining impact investigations, commercial agricultural projects and associated rural industries, and institutional restructuring. In 2004, through Phemba Holdings (Pty) Ltd consulting division a company he founded in 2003, Shongwe was involved in initiating and conducting a successful feasibility study on the establishment of an agric-mining organi c processing project today known as Bioswiss Agro-processing Industry, a project first of its kind championing development of public private partnership in a rural setting involving offshore investors. Shongwe has amassed a wide spectrum of knowledge both at home and abroad in social sciences, public relations, development planning, programme and project management and initiation of Agribusiness ventures, e.g. Bioswiss project of which he is also a BBEE partner. A candidate well suited to a challenging, vibrant and energetic team environment. ACHIEVEMENTS Former founder and Director of Akanani, an integrated rural development NGO, whereby he managed, designed and facilitated training for twelve co-operatives and other development projects. Facilitated and exchange programme between co-operatives in South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Mozambique during 1987 - 1993 Successfully initiated Inala Farm-worker Equity Scheme – Department of Land and Agriculture, Mpumalanga Developing terms of reference for small farmer settlement programme – Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Environment (DACE) Relocation planning for Tivani Mine - a titanium dioxide mining project in the Limpopo province in South Africa run out of Guernsey, Channel Islands Various Socio-Economic Impact Studies for mining houses, Envirolink (Amcoal) , Barplats and Kennedy’s Vale Mine, Thlari Women in Mining, Eland Platinum to mention a few.
